Woking Club Riding High


Last night, 27 July, Chris Chea was honoured by the Borough of Woking as senior sportsman of the year. His brother Chi was similarly rewarded as young sportsman of the year.
Chris astonished a large audience with a demo of counter movement jumps on to a pile of discs chin high. Chi then did one leg full squats on a pile of discs for a open mouthed crowd of around 150

Woking member Georgia Peel won the 1500 m in the England team against the other home countries. Aged 15 she broke the under 17 and under 20 British records, She does weight training and modified Olympic, lifts all designed to incrase her power whilst not increasing her bulk.

Amended Lift of Quarter result. Aged brained coach Brian Hamill reversed the bodyweight and lift for Chris Chea. When put right this escalated Chris to top spot amongst the 40 competitors! Woking Centre of Excellence remains Britain's top club in All Round lifting based on the Lift of the Quarter comp. This quarter, ending 30 Sep is the Left Hand Dead lift. Lift of the Quarter: Results of 2nd Quarter

Woking Centre of Excellence was best club again on the last Lift of Quarter, the national comp for All Round lifting.

The lift was Two Dumbbells Anyhow

Chris Nunn was number 2 in the UK though still a junior.; Chris Chea was 4th, Roger Bean 5th, Stephen Hollingdale 7th and Tom Norman 10th. Best woman Ellie Spain: all from Woking.

Current lift is the Left Hand Deadlift and Woking are putting in some good lifts already!
