All Round Lifting - Coach's Update

The Woking Centre of Excellence is now putting together its final attempts in the national inter-club contest on All Round Lifting.

The Centre is currently level pegging with Woking's Powerlifting club in the league.

The final lifting feat in the contest is the Left-hand Clean & Jerk with barbell.

Club coach Brian Hamill is confident his team will come out winners in this, and top the national table, when the points for this lift and the previous three strength feats are totalled up.

London Open - December 2008

At the London Open weightlifting championships Woking's Chris Chea, weighing 67.3kg, snatched 100kg and jerked 125kg for second place to Olympic hopeful Halil Zorba.

Older brother Koing, still recovering from a knee injury sustained in the semi-finals of TV's 'Gladiators, made a creditable 110kg and 125kg, narrowly failing 140kg jerk, for third place in the 94kg class.

This comp was not open to young lifters but Woking's third Chea, Chi, age 13, weighing 51.3kg won the 52kg class in the South East open with 40kg and 56kg.

Club mate Dan Quartana, 18, won the 69kg class with a snatch of 62kg and a jerk of 80kg, both personal bests.
